Quest for the Kekooee Seshket Skirmish Campaign INTRO

It is nearly a generation since the final defeat of the Atenists and most Aegyptians have forgotten much about those dark days. Many rumors about lost Items of Power have taken hold in the popular imagination. Enchanted weapons, magical scrolls, powerful amulets and more have been peddled in dark alleys throughout the land. Most of these items are fakes created by the sellers to earn quick coin. But occasionally a real item becomes known to those with an ear to the ground for signs of such things.

The Scribe of Akhenaten, Phasop, fashioned several Kekooee Seshket (Black Quills) which were distributed among the Scribes and Priests of Aten to aid in their heretical cause. These magical quills are said to have given an aura of protection to the bearer. They are also claimed to have greatly enhanced the bearers writing and oratory skills. Some accounts put the number of Kekooee Seshket at 16 while various others claim widely different numbers were created (from one single quill to nearly one hundred). While exact numbers are impossible to confirm, a handful of the Kekooee Seshket are known to have made their way into private collections while one is on display in the Library of Forbidden Knowledge in Hermopolis.

But what of those possible Kekooee Seshket that disappeared after the Atenists final defeat? Some were confirmed destroyed by Tethru priests (meticulously noted in the Scroll of Cleansing). Circumstantial evidence suggests that at least one was taken by the Anubi Council of Embalmers and hidden away to be studied for potential usefulness in their sacred duties. In all likelihood there are some Kekooee Seshket hidden away on forgotten battlefields or in tombs of those who turned away from Akhenaten during that final battle.

While in the market one morning minding your own business you overhear bits of a nearby conversation. Having a keen memory for minutiae, the context brings memories of the Kekooee Seshket to the forefront of your mind. Looking around for those involved in the conversation it is unclear who uttered the words. You must find out more if only to quench your curiosity…

Thus begins the Quest for the Kekooee Seshket. This is meant to be a series of linked scenarios for 2 to 5 players leading a party to find one of these minor magical items. The parties will be lead by a Bard, a Hekau Student, a Tomb Robber, or a Young Scribe. This is not an undertaking involving great heroes or Harbingers of the Gods. Those powerful Aegyptians would likely shun such a quest as a waste of time chasing mere rumors.
